Sponsorship Information
Dear Prospective Contributor,
Thank you for your interest in becoming a contributor to the Philadelphia Police Boat Teams, hereinafter “Team.” Our Team was founded in 2000 and is committed to the promotion of physical fitness and fraternity among the law enforcement community, and to giving back to our community. Our Team is comprised of Philadelphia Police Officers, Special Agents of the FBI, and members of other federal, state and local law enforcement organizations. We train on the historic Schuylkill River in Philadelphia , to compete in both Dragon Boat and Outrigger Canoe events. Our Team has had the opportunity to race in competitions in the United States , Canada , and in 2004, several members of our Team competed at the Protective Services International Dragon Boat Festival in Tianjin, China .
Since our inception, our Team has been raising funds for charitable organizations like the Philadelphia Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors or C.O.P.S . and taking part in events where we have paddled with children, including the “Survivors,” a Downs Syndrome group of youth paddlers. This year, our Team will be focusing on working with the Philadelphia Police Athletic League (PAL). The basic mission of PAL is to offer young people a viable and constructive alternative to the temptations of "street life" which can lead to a life of crime, alcoholism, drugs, vandalism, and delinquency. Former Philadelphia Police Commissioner Sylvester Johnson considered PAL to be “the best proactive crime prevention tool in the city of Philadelphia today.” Additionally, in February 2006, the Team made a substantial contribution to the Fraternal Order of Police to commission a memorial plaque for a Philadelphia Police Detective, who was killed in the line of duty.
Our Team is designated as a tax-exempt, non-profit organization as described in section 501c(3) of the IRS Code for 1984, as amended. Should you choose to contribute to our Team, adequate records of your contribution will be maintained and made available to the IRS upon request. In accordance with IRS regulations, no goods or services will be provided by our Team as part of, or in exchange for, your contribution. Our tax identification number is 14-1872386.
Thank you for your consideration. We hope that you will make a contribution now, and if a contribution is not feasible presently, please remember us in the future.
Sincerely,
Officer Robert Clark, President
